by Mountaincut
High on the San Francisco Peaks, one of America's oldest ski areas, now on your wall. Mountaincut's Arizona Snowbowl Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to the Flagstaff mountain where genuine high-alpine skiing, Grand Canyon views, and 260 inches of snow prove Arizona is anything but all desert.
Arizona's Highest Ski Mountain, Captured in Wood
Perched on the western slope of Mount Humphreys on the majestic San Francisco Peaks, in the Coconino National Forest about 12 miles northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona Snowbowl opened in 1938 and is one of the oldest continually operating ski areas in the United States. What began as a single rope tow powered by a car engine has grown into a real skier's mountain, spanning 777 acres of skiable terrain with 55-plus runs served by 8 lifts. From a base of 9,200 feet, the lift-served summit reaches 11,500 feet, delivering a 2,300-foot vertical drop, the largest in Arizona, with an additional 800 feet of hike-to terrain above. In fall 2016, Snowbowl unveiled the Grand Canyon Express, Arizona's first high-speed six-person lift, which rises 1,500 feet in under six minutes, and the resort has since added the Arizona Gondola. From the lifts, riders take in stunning views of the red rocks of Sedona, the cinder cone volcanic field, and even the rim of the Grand Canyon. This handcrafted map captures every run, bowl, and ridge in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Run, Every Bowl, Every Memory
Arizona Snowbowl offers a genuine range of terrain for every level, with a breakdown of roughly 37% beginner, 42% intermediate, and 21% advanced. Beginners have it especially good here: Snowbowl boasts the largest learning terrain in the entire Southwest, with 50 acres in the wide-open natural meadow of Hart Prairie, plus the Little Spruce conveyor for first turns. Intermediate and advanced skiers will find plenty of challenge across the mountain's long, steep, narrow trails off the south ridge, with the renowned Upper Bowl hike-to terrain rewarding those willing to climb, and Big Bowl ranking as the steepest run on the mountain. The longest run stretches a full 2 miles. Three terrain parks, headlined by the Sunset Terrain Park with its technical jumps, rails, and large features, keep freestyle riders progressing. Thanks to its high elevation, Snowbowl averages 260 inches of natural snowfall and boasts around 160 sunny days per season, making it one of the sunniest ski resorts in the country. Backed by state-of-the-art snowmaking covering more than 65% of the terrain, the season reliably runs from mid-November through late April. Three day lodges, each with a restaurant, bar, and first aid, complete the experience.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the mountain's ridgelines, bowls, and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a bluebird powder morning on the San Francisco Peaks.
