From a base of 1,000 feet, Black Mountain offers a 1,380-foot vertical drop, the fourth tallest in the state, across 600 acres of boundary-to-boundary skiing. Its 46 trails, including 17 gladed runs, are served by two chairlifts and a T-bar, with 90% snowmaking and 16 trails lit for night skiing. Beyond the alpine terrain, Black Mountain is most famous for its Nordic facilities: with 17 kilometres of trails, it has hosted several national cross-country championships, and the site's Nordic legacy runs deep, tracing all the way back to the Chisholm Ski Club and the 1950 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, held here when Lake Placid didn't have enough snow.
