Cannon Mountain Ski Trail Map - Layered Wood Wall Art
by Mountaincut
New Hampshire's biggest vertical and North America's first aerial tramway, now on your wall. Mountaincut's Cannon Mountain Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to the state-owned White Mountains legend where authentic, no-frills New England skiing has been the standard since 1933.
A White Mountains Original, Captured in Wood
Rising above Franconia Notch State Park in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Cannon Mountain is a place where American ski history was written. The first down-mountain ski trail in the United States was cleared here in 1933, and on June 28, 1938, Cannon opened North America's very first passenger aerial tramway, an event covered by newsreel cameras and broadcast nationally by Lowell Thomas. That tram proved skiing could be a real industry and helped launch the sport across New England. Today, Cannon's summit at 4,080 feet is the highest ski area summit in New Hampshire, and its 2,180-foot vertical drop is the largest in the state and seventh largest in New England. The resort spans two mountains, Cannon and neighboring Mittersill, with 97 trails and glades across 285 skiable acres served by ten lifts. This handcrafted map captures both mountains in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Trail, Every Glade, Every Memory
Cannon's terrain skews toward experienced skiers, roughly 15% beginner, 52% intermediate, and 33% expert, and its north-northeast exposure preserves snow beautifully, letting powder stashes linger long after a storm. From the base, the Peabody Express carries skiers three-quarters of the way up, connecting to the Cannonball Express quad for long, classic New England runs like Taft Slalom, Ravine, Cannon, and Cannonball. The front face holds steep chutes including Skylight and Upper Ravine, terrain with genuine pitch and consequence. Mittersill, the 1941 ski area reunited with Cannon in 2008, delivers old-school, ungroomed skiing and glades served by a fixed-grip double and a T-bar. Families and beginners have their own dedicated home at the Tuckerbrook Family Area, with its own lifts, gentle trails, a progression park, and kid-friendly glades. The longest run stretches 2.3 miles, and on a clear day the summit views reach across four states, all the way to Burke, Jay Peak, Stowe, and Sugarbush. Olympic legend Bode Miller grew up skiing right here.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the mountain's ridgelines, glades, and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a powder morning in Franconia Notch.
The Perfect Gift for Cannon Devotees
Whether you rode the tram on a bluebird day, dropped into the Front Five, found untracked snow in the Mittersill glades, learned to ski at Tuckerbrook, visited the New England Ski Museum at the tram base, or simply love a mountain that has stayed authentic, raw, and unapologetically about the skiing, this map is a lasting reminder of New Hampshire's most historic peak. Cannon Mountain deserves a place on your wall. Mountaincut products are made to order and most items ship within 2 to 3 days. Larger sizes (30" and above) may take 5 to 8 days before shipping.
