China Peak Ski Trail Map - Layered Wood Wall Art
by Mountaincut
A big Sierra experience above Huntington Lake, now on your wall. Mountaincut's China Peak Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to the locally owned Central California resort that has been the San Joaquin Valley's home mountain since 1958.
Central California's Home Mountain, Captured in Wood
Set on the south shore of scenic Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest, roughly 65 miles northeast of Fresno, China Peak Mountain Resort was born from a simple realization. In 1958, original owner Knut Flint recognized that skiers in the San Joaquin Valley had no choice but to drive all the way to Lake Tahoe or Badger Pass, since nothing existed on the southwest side of the Sierra. He built China Peak, named for Chinese Peak itself, and gave the entire Central Valley and Central Coast a mountain of their own. From a base of 7,030 feet to a summit just over 8,700 feet, China Peak delivers 1,679 feet of vertical across roughly 1,200 to 1,400 acres, with 45 trails served by eleven lifts. Average snowfall runs around 300 inches, backed by snowmaking on 40% of the terrain. This handcrafted map captures every trail in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Trail, Every Park, Every Memory
China Peak delivers total acreage, elevation, vertical rise, and terrain variety comparable to many Lake Tahoe resorts, but without the crowds or the drive. The mountain offers an extensive array of steeps and cruisers, with something for every level from first-timers to the very best. The longest run, Academy, unspools 2.25 miles and ranks among the longest low-level ski runs in all of California. The freestyle scene is a genuine highlight: China Peak's terrain parks are considered some of the best in Central California, spread across the Canyon, the Ridge, and the always-popular Tollhouse Park, with a full mix of jumps in every shape and size including step-ups, step-downs, hips, and spines, plus custom-made boxes and rails. And then there are the views. China Peak is one of the very few resorts in California that overlooks an alpine lake, and the vistas from its upper slopes across Huntington Lake and the Central Sierra are genuinely spectacular. Fixed-grip lifts, minimal lift lines, and an unpretentious, slightly retro feel round out a mountain that locals fiercely love.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the mountain's ridgeline and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a bluebird morning above Huntington Lake.

Whether you learned to ski here as a kid, skied the full 2.25 miles of Academy, sessioned Tollhouse Park, took in the Huntington Lake views from the summit, or have been making the drive up Highway 168 from Fresno season after season, this map is a lasting reminder of the mountain that brought real Sierra skiing to Central California. Accessible on the Indy Pass and Powder Alliance, China Peak deserves a place on your wall. Mountaincut products are made to order and most items ship within 2 to 3 days.
