Set on Holt's Ledge and Winslow Ledge in Lyme, New Hampshire, about twenty minutes northeast of Dartmouth College, the Dartmouth Skiway opened in 1956 and remains home to Dartmouth's storied ski teams. From a base of 968 feet to a summit of 1,943 feet, the Skiway delivers a full 968-foot vertical drop across 104 skiable acres, with 30 trails ranging from easy green circles to demanding black diamonds, served by two lifts, the Winslow Mountain Quad and the Holt's Ledge Double, plus two beginner carpets. With snowmaking capacity covering over 60 acres, the Skiway has twice hosted the NCAA Skiing Championships, in 1958 and again in 2003. The mountain is patrolled by the Dartmouth Ski Patrol, a joint community and student first-responder organization with more than 40 volunteer Dartmouth student patrollers alongside community volunteers and paid staff, keeping the Skiway a genuinely safe, welcoming place to ski. With free parking, reasonable prices, and virtually no lift lines, the Skiway has long been beloved for its friendly, unpretentious atmosphere and rich collegiate history.
