Granite Peak Ski Trail Map - Layered Wood Wall Art
by Mountaincut
Wisconsin's Legendary Ski Area, now on your wall. Mountaincut's Granite Peak Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to the state's biggest, boldest mountain, rising from the top of Rib Mountain since 1937.
Wisconsin's Highest Point, Captured in Wood
Set atop Rib Mountain, the fourth-highest point in Wisconsin, within Rib Mountain State Park just south of Wausau, Granite Peak has been a fixture of Midwest skiing since the ski area opened on these slopes in 1937, making it one of the first ski areas in all of North America. From a base of 1,250 feet to a summit of 1,950 feet, Granite Peak delivers a 700-foot vertical drop, the longest in Wisconsin and among the tallest in the entire Midwest, across roughly 155 to 225 acres of skiable terrain. The resort's 58 trails and seven designated glade areas are served by seven lifts, including Wisconsin's only high-speed six-pack, two high-speed quads, and two triple chairs, along with two magic carpets for beginners. With 100% snowmaking and 73 to 75% of the mountain lit for night skiing, this handcrafted map captures every trail and glade in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Trail, Every Glade, Every Memory
Granite Peak's terrain breaks down to roughly 24% beginner, 24% intermediate, 45% advanced, and 7% expert, offering genuine challenge for a Midwest mountain of this size. The core of the hill sits off the Comet and Blitzen lifts, home to the most diverse array of trails on the mountain, with beginner magic carpets named Frosty and Blizzard giving never-evers a low-pressure place to find their ski legs before graduating to easy green cruisers like Mystery, Meadows, and Hot Cocoa. From there, skiers can progress into longer intermediate runs and onto the mountain's steeper advanced terrain, with four dedicated mogul runs adding to the variety. Seven cleared and maintained glades offer genuine tree skiing throughout the mountain, and four terrain parks give freestyle riders room to progress at every level. At night, the ribbons of light cascading down Rib Mountain to the edge of Wausau create one of the best night skiing atmospheres anywhere in the Great Lakes region, drawing frequent comparisons to a small New England ski area. On-mountain dining at the Sundance Chalet and the Historic Chalet, the latter featuring live music on weekends, rounds out a genuinely complete day on the hill.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the mountain's ridgeline, glades, and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a crisp evening under the lights above Wausau.
