Set in Ellicottville, New York, in the heart of the Enchanted Mountains region, HoliMont was founded in 1960 and has grown into North America's largest private ski club, with more than 4,000 members and a warm, community-driven atmosphere that keeps generations of families coming back. From a base of 1,560 feet to a summit of 2,260 feet, the mountain delivers 700 feet of vertical drop across 135 skiable acres, with 56 trails served by eight lifts, including a high-speed quad, four double chairs, a triple, and a magic carpet. Per the resort's official site, HoliMont maintains 100% snowmaking with its own patented process, used across the country and abroad, and is the only ski area in North America that bans snowmobiles from its slopes during ski hours. HoliMont is a genuinely family-oriented mountain, with plenty of beginner and intermediate terrain alongside some real expert challenge and an active racing and freestyle program. The historic Greer run, dating back to 1938 and one of the oldest ski trails in Western New York, can still be seen from the center of town overlooking the village. HoliMont deliberately runs no night skiing, a choice that preserves its famously excellent snow and gives the grooming crew extra time to lay down a perfect carpet of corduroy across the mountain. When the snow really dumps, locals head straight for the glades off Punch Bowl, Sunrise, and Sunset. Two terrain parks, one for beginners and intermediates and one for advanced and expert riders, plus a halfpipe, keep freestyle skiers progressing, and three miles of groomed cross-country and snowshoe trails extend the mountain beyond the lifts. The chalet, famous for welcoming family picnics with electric outlets for crockpots and fondue, keeps HoliMont's laid-back, come-as-you-are spirit alive.
