Perched in the San Gabriel Mountains along State Route 2 near the charming town of Wrightwood, just 75 to 90 minutes from Los Angeles and Orange County, Mountain High is the quickest way to snow in Southern California. What makes it truly distinctive is its structure: three separate resorts, each just a mile apart, each with its own terrain, elevation, and personality. Together, the West, East, and North Resorts deliver 290 acres of skiable terrain, a 1,600-foot vertical rise topping out at 8,200 feet, 59 trails, and 14 lifts including two high-speed quads. With snowmaking across more than 80% of the slopes, Mountain High is typically the first resort in Southern California to open each season, running from early November well into April. Three Resorts, Every Trail, Every Memory
Mountain High's terrain breaks down to 25% beginner, 40% intermediate, and 35% advanced, but the real story is how differently each of the three resorts skis. The West Resort is the energy hub, home to the world-class terrain park with legendary features like the Slayer Box, plus excellent glade skiing in an area known as The Reef when the snow is deep. West is the site of on-hill contests, live performances, and Southern California's only night skiing, with lifts spinning until 10pm most nights of peak season. The East Resort is a completely different world: a single high-speed quad serves the longest trails in Southern California, with thrilling mogul runs, gladed tree skiing, and jaw-dropping views stretching across the Mojave Desert and, on the clearest days, all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The North Resort, formerly Ski Sunrise, offers 70 acres of gentle beginner and intermediate terrain and is home to the largest snow tubing park in Southern California, making it the perfect family hangout. One lift ticket works at all three, with a shuttle running between them.
