Set in South Pomfret, Vermont, a short drive north of the picturesque town of Woodstock, Saskadena Six holds a foundational place in American ski history. In the mid-1930s, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame honoree Wallace "Bunny" Bertram installed a rope tow on the mountain's Hill No. 6, one of the very first ski lifts ever built in the United States. In 2022, the resort's owner, the Woodstock Inn and Resort, gave the mountain its current name, Saskadena Six, an Abenaki word meaning "standing mountain," chosen in consultation with Chief Don Stevens of the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk-Abenaki Nation to honor the region's original inhabitants while carrying forward the mountain's historic "Six" identity. Today the mountain offers three lifts, including a modern quad, and 23 to 24 trails across a compact, historic footprint.
