Ski Cloudcroft Ski Trail Map — Layered Wood Wall Art
by Mountaincut
Small mountain, big New Mexico charm, now on your wall. Mountaincut's Ski Cloudcroft Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to the high-desert mountain that has brought skiing to southern New Mexico for more than 50 years.
A High-Elevation Escape in the Sacramento Mountains, Captured in Wood
Set in the village of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, high in the Sacramento Mountains within the Lincoln National Forest, Ski Cloudcroft was established in 1963 by local developer "Buddy" Ritter with a single T-bar lift. Cloudcroft itself traces its roots to a late 19th-century logging outpost, connected by the old Alamogordo and Sacramento Mountain Railway, whose historic Mexican Canyon Trestle, built in 1899 and still standing 52 feet tall and more than 320 feet across the canyon, remains a scenic landmark just outside town. Per the resort's official site, Ski Cloudcroft offers a base elevation of 8,400 feet and a top elevation of 9,100 feet, delivering a 700-foot vertical drop across 74 skiable acres. The mountain's 25 trails, 8 beginner, 7 intermediate, 8 advanced, and 2 expert only, are served by a double chairlift, a handle tow, and a rope tow. This handcrafted map captures every trail on the mountain in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Trail, Every Turn, Every Memory
Ski Cloudcroft's terrain genuinely has something for everyone, and the mountain has built its reputation on a laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere that makes it an ideal place for first-timers to learn. Gentle beginner slopes near the base give newcomers a comfortable place to start, with the Cloud Nine Ski School offering affordable group and private lessons for skiing and snowboarding alike. For those chasing more of a challenge, the double chair opens up steeper advanced terrain, including the notoriously tough Black Jack run. High elevation combined with snowmaking helps keep conditions usable through a season that, given the mountain's southerly location, can vary considerably year to year. Beyond the ski trails, a snow tubing hill adds family fun, and Mad Jack's Mountaintop Bar & Grill serves food and drinks with sweeping views of the surrounding forest and distant desert. With short lift lines, friendly locals, and genuinely scenic mountain views, Ski Cloudcroft delivers a relaxed, community-driven winter experience unlike anywhere else in southern New Mexico.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the mountain's ridgeline and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a fresh snowfall high above the Tularosa Basin.
