Panorama Mountain Ski Trail Map - Layered Wood Wall Art
by Mountaincut
One of the biggest verticals in North America, now on your wall. Mountaincut's Panorama Mountain Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to the Purcell Mountains resort along British Columbia's famous Powder Highway where a top-ten vertical drop meets uncrowded, wide-open terrain.
The Powder Highway's Best-Kept Secret, Captured in Wood
Tucked into the Columbia Mountains of southeastern British Columbia, near Invermere and roughly 300 kilometres west of Calgary, Panorama Mountain Resort has been quietly delivering some of the biggest terrain in North America since 1962. From a base of 1,150 metres to a summit of 2,450 metres, Panorama offers a 1,300-metre, 4,265-foot vertical drop, a top-ten vertical in all of North America, across roughly 2,975 acres of skiable terrain. With 129 to 144 named trails served by ten lifts and two alpine snowcat shuttles, Panorama has actually been ranked the number one resort for space per skier among the world's 100 largest ski areas. One of the highest base elevations in Canada gives the mountain reliably good early-season conditions, and its position on the sunnier, warmer side of the Rockies means fewer clouds and more visibility than many of its Powder Highway neighbors. This handcrafted map captures the full mountain, from the village up through Taynton Bowl, in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Zone, Every Bowl, Every Memory
Panorama's terrain gets progressively steeper as you climb, with a breakdown of roughly 15% beginner, 35% intermediate, 20% advanced, and 30% expert. The Discovery Zone and the runs off Mile 1 Express keep beginners close to the village on gentle, well-groomed slopes, while long, uninterrupted intermediate cruisers spill down from the top of the Champagne Express quad, letting skiers cover the mountain's massive vertical in a single satisfying run. Frontside advanced terrain lives in the Extreme Dream Zone, where the steep trees and small cliffs of runs like Gun Barrel drop straight toward the village. But the crown jewel is Taynton Bowl, a 750-acre expanse of exclusively black-diamond terrain that was once heli-ski-only and is now fully patrolled and in-bounds, served by the Monster X snowcat or reached on foot for those willing to hike. Averaging around 200 inches of snow a year, Panorama gets less total snowfall than nearby Kicking Horse or Revelstoke, but its wide-open, uncrowded terrain more than makes up for it. Two terrain parks and cross-country trails round out the offering, and a slopeside village with lodging, dining, and après keeps everything within walking distance.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the mountain's bowls, ridgelines, and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a quiet powder morning in Taynton Bowl.
