Snow Summit Ski Trail Map - Layered Wood Wall Art
by Mountaincut
Southern California's home mountain, now on your wall. Mountaincut's Snow Summit Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to the Big Bear Lake original that has been the Los Angeles area's go-to winter escape since 1952.
Big Bear's Original Ski Mountain, Captured in Wood
Set in the San Bernardino Mountains just south of Big Bear Lake, roughly two hours from Los Angeles, Snow Summit has been a Southern California winter institution since it first opened in 1952. From a base of 6,965 feet to a summit of 8,174 feet, Snow Summit delivers a 1,209-foot vertical drop across 240 skiable acres, with 31 trails served by 14 lifts, including two high-speed quads. What truly sets Snow Summit apart is its snowmaking: a system of over 560 hydrants, 330 snow guns, and 40 electric fan guns can convert up to 6,000 gallons of water into snow per minute, laying down three to five feet of coverage across 100% of the developed terrain every season. That reliability has made Snow Summit one of the most consistent, most visited resorts in Southern California. This handcrafted map captures every trail, from the popular west side to the steeper east side runs, in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Trail, Every Side, Every Memory
Snow Summit's terrain breaks down to roughly 10% beginner, 25% low intermediate, 40% intermediate, and 25% advanced, giving Southern California families and mixed-ability groups a genuinely welcoming mountain. The west side, served by Chairs 2, 3, and 9, is the most popular part of the mountain, home to the bulk of the beginner and intermediate terrain as well as Snow Summit's celebrated Night Sessions skiing under the lights. The east side, reached by Chairs 1, 6, 7, and 10, sees far fewer crowds and holds the mountain's more serious intermediate and advanced skiing, with Snow Summit's steepest and most challenging runs found off Chairs 5 and 6. Westridge, the longest run at 1.25 miles, gives strong skiers a satisfying top-to-bottom cruise, while Summit Run delivers over 1,100 feet of sustained elevation drop. In 1997, Snow Summit hosted the inaugural Winter X Games, cementing its place in Southern California ski history. Terrain parks, night skiing most of the season, and easy pairing with sister resort Bear Mountain on a single lift ticket round out the complete Big Bear experience.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the mountain's ridgeline and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a Night Sessions run under the lights above Big Bear Lake.
The Perfect Gift for Snow Summit Devotees
Whether you learned to ski on the west side, chased steeper lines off Chairs 5 and 6 on the east side, cruised the full 1.25 miles of Westridge, made your first Night Sessions run under the lights, or have been making the drive up from LA season after season, this map is a lasting reminder of the mountain that introduced generations of Southern Californians to skiing.
