Steamboat Ski Trail Map - Layered Wood Wall Art
by Mountaincut
The home of Champagne Powder, now on your wall. Mountaincut's Steamboat Ski Trail Map is a layered wooden wall art piece featuring hand-traced ski trails expertly laser cut from premium birch and/or walnut plywood, a handcrafted tribute to Ski Town USA, the Colorado mountain range where the term "Champagne Powder" was coined and where legendary tree skiing meets genuine Western charm.
Colorado's Mountain Range, Captured in Wood
Set in the Park Range of northwest Colorado, an easy three-hour drive from Denver in the town of Steamboat Springs, Steamboat is not a single peak but an entire mountain range: Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Christie Peak, and Mahogany Ridge. Following a major expansion completed in 2023 that added the two-stage Wild Blue Gondola and opened up Mahogany Ridge, Steamboat has grown into one of the largest ski areas in Colorado, with 3,741 acres of permitted terrain and roughly 181 trails served by 21 lifts, including two gondolas. Steamboat literally trademarked the term Champagne Powder, describing the exceptionally dry, light snow that falls here thanks to the resort's position as the first major range to catch storms rolling into the Northern Colorado Rockies, averaging over 300 inches a year. With a base elevation of 6,900 feet, Steamboat never climbs above treeline, keeping conditions more hospitable than higher-altitude Colorado resorts. This handcrafted map captures every peak, glade, and chute in beautiful layered wood relief.
Every Peak, Every Glade, Every Memory
Steamboat's terrain breaks down to roughly 14% beginner, 42% intermediate, and 44% advanced, and while the mountain is not known for its steeps, it makes up for it with legendary tree skiing and genuinely fun, varied terrain. The gladed areas of Mahogany Ridge, Sunshine Peak, and Storm Peak are Steamboat's particular claim to fame, with Champagne Powder settling into the trees and holding fresh for days, since almost all of the timber between the trails is open to skiing. Beginners find the mellow, designated slow zone off the lower Wild Blue Gondola, with runs like Right-O-Way and Giggle Gulch, while intermediates roam extensive rolling groomers across nearly every zone of the mountain. Experts head above mid-mountain: from the top of Sunshine or Storm Peak, the backside drops into Morningside Park, home to Steamboat's legendary chutes, or a five-minute hike further reaches the summit of Mount Werner, where nearly every run requires a short traverse at the end except for No Names, which drops straight into the chutes below. Four to five terrain parks serve freestyle riders, and historic Howelsen Hill in downtown Steamboat Springs, the oldest ski area in continuous operation in Colorado, offers night skiing right in town.
Exceptional Craftsmanship, Made in the USA
All Mountaincut wooden trail maps are precision laser cut and etched, hand-stained, and finished in the United States using birch and/or walnut plywood. The two-layer construction creates a rich, dimensional look where the range's peaks, glades, and trail network stand out in beautiful relief. Hanging hardware comes preinstalled, so your new trail map will be on display in minutes.
Because each piece is crafted from real wood, no two maps are exactly alike, with natural variations in the grain and stain giving every piece its own character, just like a Champagne Powder morning in the aspen glades.

Whether you've dropped into Morningside's chutes off Mount Werner, chased fresh tracks through the glades on Sunshine or Storm Peak, cruised the gentle slopes off the Wild Blue Gondola, night skied at Howelsen Hill, or have been making the drive out to Ski Town USA season after season, this map is a lasting reminder of the mountain range where Champagne Powder was born.
