The historic mining town of Telluride, a National Historic Landmark filled with Victorian-era buildings, sits at 8,725 feet and is connected to the modern Mountain Village above by a free, thirteen-minute pedestrian gondola, the only one of its kind in the country. From that base, Telluride climbs to a summit of 13,150 feet, delivering 4,425 feet of total vertical, including hike-to terrain, and 3,845 feet lift-served, across more than 2,000 skiable acres. For advanced skiers, The Plunge delivers one of the most iconic runs in American skiing, a jaw-dropping black diamond bump run plunging 3,140 vertical feet straight into historic downtown Telluride. The steepest terrain of all waits at Gold Hill Chutes and the couloirs along the ridge to Palmyra Peak, hike-to zones beyond the lift terminals that reward serious effort with genuine big-mountain skiing. The 2008 addition of Revelation Bowl opened 400 more acres of high-alpine terrain, and three terrain parks round out the offering. Despite its scale, Telluride's remote location keeps lift lines nearly nonexistent, a rarity for a resort this celebrated.
