Set in Dresser, Wisconsin, about 47 miles northeast of St. Paul, Minnesota, Trollhaugen is one of the longest-running snow sports areas in the Midwest. Founded in the fall of 1950 by Lee Rogers and Walter G. Peterson with a single tow rope and three slopes, the hill grew steadily through the decades, adding chairlifts, expanded snowmaking, and a growing trail network under the Rochford family, who purchased Trollhaugen in 1967 and have operated it as a family business ever since. From a base of 940 feet to a summit of 1,200 feet, Trollhaugen delivers a 260-foot vertical drop across 80 to 90 acres, with 22 to 30 trails served by ten lifts, including two quad chairs, a double chair, and seven rope tows.
